Abstract
Several federally funded programs help boost the state’s science and technology workforce. The goals of INBRE, the IdeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence, is to develop research resources and laboratories that will attract established investigators and help develop the research skills of students. EPSCoR, the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research was established in Maine in 1980 and offers learning programs to a wider audience and is largely hand-on field experiences. One of its goals is to build a larger STEM workforce in Maine, as well as exposing students to science in general. [images]
