Abstract

FairPoint Communications LLC and Maine's Public Advocate Office have reached an agreement that allows for a legislative remedy for an issue resulting from the partial deregulation of the telecommunications industry that began in 2011. The article gives the background of the issue and the hurdles that must be overcome going forward. A textbox discussing how FairPoint Communications intends to expand rural broadband is included.
