Abstract
The vacancy rate for industrial real estate in Portland is 4% in 2016, which is prompting businesses to look to other towns in the Greater Portland area, namely Westbrook, Scarborough, South Portland, Saco and Biddeford. In Portland, rather than building new structures, it has been more cost effective to re-purpose old buildings.
