Abstract
Profiles of three young Maine entrepreneurs who are making their mark on the green economy. Nick Mazuroski co-founded Dirigo Solar LLC to provide locally sourced clean energy to Mainers. Dirigo has a contract to build utility-scale solar plants throughout the state.
Kai Smith founded Maine Coasters & Bio-Boards in 2017. Smith makes coasters in his home basement out of the pulp and grains left over from the brewing process. Portland-area brewers have been supportive of the startup.
Paramount Planet Product, founded in 2017 by Ariadne Dimoulas, aims to make disposable consumer goods like coffee cup lids and bottle caps, out of paper rather than plastic. Dimoulas and her mother, a pulp and paper engineer, have pioneered a material called plaaper.
