Abstract

A focus piece on the Maine dairy farms -- including Flood Brothers Farm in Clinton -- that are investigating the possibilities of converting methane into biogas, which can be converted to electricity. Summit Utilities Inc. of Littleton, Colorado, is partnering with farms in this effort, and plans to build an anaerobic digestion facility. Converting cow waste to fuel is one opportunity in an industry that is facing many challenges. Includes a sidebar about milk pricing.
