Abstract

Run by the University of Maine, the UpStart Center for Entrepreneurship in Orono focuses on companies that are interested in innovation. The interactive environment, access to technology, and laboratory space help entrepreneurs, many of them scientists new to entrepreneurship, launch their businesses.One of the co-founders of Activas Diagnostics calls UpStart a "modern-day kind of Silicon Valley."
