Abstract

Two stories about health care providers who are finding innovative ways to address two critical health care needs: dental care and opioid addiction treatment. Falmouth-based Community Dental is opening a dental clinic in Monson, in the state's least-populous county. Lack of access to dental care has profound impacts on a person's overall health and well-being. Teledentristry will supplement the work of a hygienist, and the clinic will share space and administrative staff with other healthcare providers. Another area of need is access to opioid addiction treatment. Healthcare systems are looking into ways to increase access to buprenorphine and to combat the stigma associated with addiction.
