Abstract
MaineHealth, Maine's largest private employer, and Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center have teamed up to create a pilot English-language learning program for employees. The first cohort consisted of 12 employees from environmental services and five from linen services who took three to six months of language learning online and also worked with Jennifer O'Leary, the manager of MaineHealth's Center for Workforce Development to identify career pathways. Article includes a brief discussion of Voxy, the cloud-based platform that delivered the curriculum, which included vocabulary tailored to participants' jobs.
