Abstract
Lanco Integrated, headquartered in Westbrook, employs 300 people to design and make machines and test systems used in the automotive and medical fields. President and CEO Ed Karabec, who struggled to recruit workers from out of state, has turned his attention to developing a workforce with recent graduates of Maine's community and public colleges. Article includes several sidebars highlighting other Maine manufacturers and their workforce challenges and goals.
