Abstract

A discussion of efforts by the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and Maine business leaders to address diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) by increasing opportunities for BIPOC workers in Maine companies. Describes plans for participants to pursue DEI education while helping to create support networks for workers of color and internships for students of color. Claude Rwaganje of ProsperityME and Adilah Muhammad of The Third Place discuss the importance of community and a sense of belonging for BIPOC workers and the importance of increasing worker diversity in Maine.
