A discussion of the Indus Fund, a microloan program aimed at helping immigrant business owners launch or sustain businesses in Maine. Discusses the hurdles New Mainers can face when attempting to finance businesses, from lack of credit to financial institutions reluctant to risk loaning money to immigrants. Describes how the Indus Fund works with organizations such as cPort Credit Union to decrease the risk and encourage lending. Interviewees include Kerem Durdag, founder and managing partner for the Indus Fund, the owners of Burundi Star Coffee and other recipients of financing, and cPort Credit Union officials.
