Abstract

A discussion of a request for proposals for renewable energy projects in Aroostook County. Describes how current energy projects funnel electricity to ISO New England's power grid - which Aroostook County does not use - and therefore do nothing to alleviate high energy costs in northern Maine. Local leaders and lawmakers express concerns about whether proposed projects can bring lasting economic benefit to the region.
