Abstract

Maine manufacturers from craft beverage makers to industrial suppliers are bracing for disruptions from President -elect Donald Trump's declaration of war against imports from China, Mexico, and even Canada- the state's largest trade and investment partner. Tariff-related turbulence goes well beyond Maine, particularly for the nation's 9,900 small and independent craft brewers. "The thing that businesses abhor above everything else is uncertainty," says Mike Roughton, executive director of the Manufacturers Association of Maine.
