Abstract
Article featuring various historic church buildings in Maine which have been repurposed for various commercial and cultural uses, including the Maine Irish Heritage Center in Portland's former Saint Dominic's Church, the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church in Portland, converted into a restaurant venue, and Bridgton Historical Society renovating and moving into the former Bridgton United Methodist Church. Two former churches in Westbrook and Biddeford are now used for youth social services as locations for My Place Teen Centers. Former Catholic church buildings in Biddeford and Waterville are in the process of being renovated into community centers.
The article also mentions various closed churches, whose buildings (in Madison, Hallowell, and Augusta) are presently for sale.
