Abstract
Omar Jamal, a national Somali leader, asked Lewiston mayor Larry Raymond to resign on Jan. 11 after he missed the pro-diversity rally held at Bates College that day. The rally, held in response to a meeting of the neo-Nazi group World Church of the Creator, drew nearly 4,500 people making it one of the largest protest gatherings in Maine history.
