Abstract

"Cover Story" piece on Gov. John Baldacci's idea to involve citizens in meeting the projected $1 billion budget shortfall. Baldacci's Web site (www.maine.gov/governor) features a game you can play called "Baldacci's Budget Balancing Education Tool." A set of screens allows you to change state spending or tax collections to devise your own scheme to balance the budget.
