Abstract
Details of a meeting held three weeks after Oak Street Theater's landlord cancelled the theater's lease. Several Portland city officials attended the brainstorming session, but gave no definite answers about what the city could do to help the theater find a new venue. Maine is one of only two states in the country that does not afford theaters tax-exempt status. OST founder Michael Levine announced a fundraising effort he called the Close With Dignity Campaign, to raise money to cover the season's operating budget.
