Abstract
Article on the Souillac Group, a loosely knit group of international artists, scientists, and industry types looking to create a new global communication space beyond the corporately biased media. In Maine, three intellectuals are helping to craft that space as members and collaborators in Souillac. The Web site for the movement was developed in part by Peter Rottmann, vice president of the Maine-based software company Trefoil, and Mike Scott, director of the New Media lab at the University of Maine in Orono (UMO). Together with George Markowsky, who leads UMO's Computer Science Department and is the founder of Trefoil, Rottmann and Scott are working on the education category of the project. Details.
