Abstract
Steven Wright, 32, of South Portland, wants to bring his lover, Aaron, 26, a Panamanian, to the United States so they can live together as a couple. Following an attorney's advice, Wright was honest about the relationship when he and Aaron visited the U.S. Consular office in Panama to apply for a visa renewal for Aaron, who had been attending school at Casco Bay College. The U.S. Consul denied the visa renewal and Wright had to return home alone. Aaron is now living on the streets in Vancouver, Canada, and Wright doesn't have enough money to visit him very often. He's hopeful that Congress will pass the Permanent Partner Immigration Act of 2000, sponsored by U.S. represenative Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, but that's a long shot. With details about Nadler's bill.
