Abstract

"inkslingers" piece on collecting old books, with a focus on comments by Barrie Pribyl, president of the Maine Antiquarian Booksellers Association, and owner of ABCD Books in Camden. Pribyl notes that people either have the collecting "gene" or not, and goes on to explain that there are two ways to collect: vertically, or horizontally. A vertical collector has a narrow, specific focus, while a horizontal collector is interested in a broader variety of materials.
