Abstract

"postcard from wells" piece on David Foster Wallace, who was commissioned by "Gourmet" magazine to visit last year's Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland. Wallace had very few nice things to say about it, and most of the article was dedicated to questioning whether boiling live lobsters is cruel. With a mention of the November bear baiting referendum.
