Abstract
An article for the "Ideas Issue," by a writer with dual citizenship, on the possibility of Maine seceding from the U.S. and joining Canada. She discusses factors that make Canada appealing, including its diversity, liberal politics, and universal health care, and speculates about how Canada would welcome the addition of Maine. She interviews Mark Greene, who spearheaded Long Island's secession from Portland and Thomas Naylor, leader of a sovereignty movement in Vermont, and appends a list of friends who support her quixotic idea.
