Abstract

Article on the success of community arts centers in rural Maine, with a focus on singer/songwriter Carol Noonan's proposal to create the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield. Noonan and her husband, Jeff Flagg, envision homegrown vaudeville stage acts that would anchor musical acts from Maine and around the country. With comments on the Denmark Arts Center in Denmark, and the Fiddlehead Center for the Arts in New Gloucester. With a related article on demographic changes in Brownfield.
