Abstract

Article on the Bike Cycle Shop in Portland, a used bike store run by Percy Wheeler and Dugan Murphy. Catering to urban cyclists, bike commuters and those with little money to maintain their bikes, the shop has found its niche in offering used parts and low-cost repairs. Bike Cycle displays local artists' work and sometimes provides minor repairs at no cost, especially for kids who can't afford it. With comments on several Portlanders who use their bikes to commute year-round.
