Abstract

This Just In" piece on the Maine College of Art (MECA) in Portland, noting that enrollment is down 10 percent for the upcoming year, resulting in about $550,000 in lost tuition revenue. James Baker, the new president of MECA, starts his job later this month amid a capital campaign and a plan to consolidate the campus in the Porteous building on Congress Street. Rick Longo, vice-president for enrollment management, believes fewer students enrolled because his office failed to notify applicants of financial aid packages soon enough. In addition, several administrators have recently left the school.
