Abstract

"Diverse-City" piece applauding the City of Portland for its attitudes toward issues of diversity. The Portland Police Department (PPD) has had two minorities join the force in the past year, and has also sponsored two civilian police academies to familiarize people in the immigrant and refugee communities with the PPD. However, it is still difficult for minorities living in Maine, with many feeling that they would live elsewhere if they could.
