Abstract
"Politics + Other Mistakes" criticizing Opportunity Maine, a ballot initiative that would provide an income-tax credit of $2,100 or more each year to offset college loan payments. The plan is ill-conceived because the "brain drain" is more political polemic than problem, the tax break will cost $3.4 million in lost revenue, and the initiative favors graduates of Maine colleges over those who opt to study out of state.
