Abstract

Betsy Smith, executive director of Equality Maine, said her group plans to push for gay marriage rights in Maine within the next three to five years. Darlene Huntress, also of Equality Maine, said the issue of gay marriage is always shifting, noting that New Hampshire recently approved civil unions for same-sex partners. Five states currently have some sort of same-sex couple law.
