Abstract
"Cover Story" piece on the Maine Green Independent Party's state convention, which was recently held in Brunswick. In 1997, when the party first had an official status, there were 4,800 registered Greens in Maine. The enrollment now is 10,500. With the Green Party's "10 key values," 16 convention platform planks, and a debate about Green power between Marc Hetherington and John Rensenbrink, who are both government professors at Bowdoin College in Brunswick. Rensenbrink is also one of the founders of the American Green movement, and, in the mid-1980s, of the Maine Green Party.
