Abstract

"Cover Story" piece on state senator Michael McAlevey, R-York, and state Reps. William Cote, D-Lewiston, and John McDonough, D-Portland. All three incumbents were defeated in the June primary. Since then, Cote has resigned his seat in the House, representing District 87, despite the fact that the Legislature will almost surely be called into a special session to deal with the budget crisis. McDonough has switched parties and will be running for his District 32 seat in November as a Republican. And McAlevey may be switching parties to run for the Senate District 34 seat as a Democrat.
