Abstract

Profile of Maxine Drinkwater Simmons, who as second baseman had a .947 fielding percentage. She was one of just two Maine women ever to play in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, on which the movie, "A League of Their Own" was based. Simmons, 69, of Camden, recently became the first female star to be elected to the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame.
