Abstract

The Center for Cultural Exchange in Portland faces an uncertain future in the wake of founding directors James Bau Graves and Phyllis O'Neill's departure. Jay Young, board president, confides that the organization has run a deficit the last two years, and that grant writing is more difficult than ever. Both Young and fellow board member Constance Bloomfield hope the Center will be able to hold on to its Longfellow Square headquarters, although selling the property is an option. While the Center awaits an interim program director or executive director, many projects have been put on hold.
