Abstract
Profile of artist Marguerite Thompson Zorach (1887-1968), wife of renowned sculptor William Zorach. Their daughter Dahlov Ipcar still writes and paints in the family home in Georgetown. Last year two of Marguerite Zorach's paintings fetched high prices. Thomaston Place Auction Galleries sold a 1915 painting, "The Awakening," for $110,000, and the Tom Veilleux Gallery in Portland sold another for $400,000. While Zorach's prices continue to rise, her work cannot be heavily promoted because of its scarcity. As the mother of two children, her time to paint was limited.
