Abstract
Portland's waterfront has its own holiday traditions. Every year, an Italian family drives from Brooklyn, New York, to Harbor Fish to buy the freshest fish for the Christmas Day feast of the seven fishes. Others make the journey from as far as Pennsylvania and Cape Cod. Portland Tugboat LLC and Casco Bay Lines each have their own parade of lights in the harbor; DeMillos's Floating Restaurant has carolers; and Nash Garbedian, Portland Harbor chaplain, delivers ditty bags to crews on visiting ships, as part of Toys for Tars.
