Abstract

"Inside story" piece on The Village Studio building in Ogunquit, built in 1913 as a theater venue and fallen into disrepair. Ron Mercurio hired Boston architect Dewey Nichols to help him realize his vision of a summer home where he could entertain his friends. The original building was incorporated into the new design because under zoning regulations, razing it would have made it impossible to build to the same dimensions.
