Abstract

"Cuiscene" piece on Chef Lydia Shire, 59, who won the James Beard award as "Best Chef in the Northeast" in 1991 at her restaurant Biba in Boston. She later opened Pignoli in Boston and took over Locke-Ober in 2001. Now she is opening a new place called Blue Sky on York Beach in which familiar flavors mix with her signature whimsey. Located on the second floor of the renovated Atlantic Hotel, Blue Sky is a mix of chrome and comfort. Shire handpicked the design elements and even designed the chairs.
