Abstract

A look at windpower in Maine, with references to commercial wind farms such as the one on Mars Hill Mountain, and "small" and "community" wind, such as turbines in Saco, Farmington, Winter Harbor, Hallowell, and the George H.W. Bush estate in Kennebunkport. "Community" wind has four times the economic impact on local value added and 2.8 times the impact on local job creation than a corporate-owned development, according to a study by the University of Minnesota.
