Abstract

Charles Royce of Connecticut purchased the the deteriorating, 74-foot "Aphrodite III," which once served as a private yacht for Franklin D. Roosevelt and hosted stars like Katherine Hepburn and Shirley Temple. Royce sent the yacht to Brooklin Boat yard to be restored. Though the wood couldn't be saved, much of the original bronze hardware was used in the restoration.
