Abstract
The Navy is offering the decommissioned USS John F. Kennedy to be used as a floating museum and memorial, and Portland might become its new home. The aircraft carrier is presently berthed near Philadelphia and is 50 feet longer than the Maine State Pier. Millions of dollars would need to be raised to acquire and maintain the ship. With details on the competition and views of Maine's gubernatorial candidates on bringing the JFK to Portland.
