Abstract

"House of the Month" piece on the former home of Maine Supreme Court Justice Sidney St. Felix Thaxter (1883-1958) at 314 Danforth St. in Portland. His daughter, actress Phyllis Thaxter, grew up there, inherited the house, and sold it in 1970. Bass shoe heiress Harriet Bass Johnson added a pool in the 1980s. The house is for sale for $649,000.
