Abstract

Born Charles Claverie in Bangor in 1949, Charles Rocket was the only Maine native to become a member of the Saturday Night Live cast. Hired to replace Bill Murray as the show's Weekend Update anchor, Rocket's time on the show ended after the 1980-1981 season. He continued acting in supporting roles on film and television until 2005 when he committed suicide behind his home in Connecticut.
