Abstract

For his 88th birthday, President George Herbert Walker Bush flew out to visit the Navy's newest nuclear carrier named in his honor which was anchored a few miles off the coast near the President's home in Kennebunkport. The crew has nicknamed the carrier "The Avenger" as a reference to the U.S. Navy Grumman TBM Avenger plane flown by the President that was shot down during combat. Includes an interview with Commander Brian Pummill, the helicopter pilot who flew the Presidents Bush and their families out to the carrier.
