Abstract

Piece about three Mainers who had connections to the novelist Ernest Hemingway. The painter Waldo Peirce of Bangor was a good friend to Hemingway. Hemingway’s biographer, Carlos Baker, grew up in Saco and taught at Thornton Academy. Henry Strater, the artist who founded the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, was friendly with the Hemingways in Paris.
