Abstract
The story of the Albert Otten [art] Collection is told. Albert Ottenheimer was born in Germany and made his fortune in the ironworks industry. He was so successful, he was able to amass a great collection of art. When faced with life and death danger as the Third Reich grew in power, he shipped his collection to Canada and escaped through Switzerland, went through Canada, and then settled in the United States. He kept his collection in Canada until he built his second fortune in the U.S. and then shipped the collection to him. They are now in the possession of his son, Les Otten. Some pieces are on loan at the Portland Museum of Art. [images]
