Abstract
Many of Portland's chefs excel in other fields outside of the kitchen. Several chefs and their skills are featured including Brian Hill, chef/owner of Camden's Francine Bistro who plays the 12-string guitar and has toured with the Clash and Aerosmith; Melissa Bouchard, chef at DiMIllo's on the water who gardens; restaurateur/chef Jay Villani of Local 188, Sonny's Salvage BBQ, and Bunker Brewing who metal sculpts; chef/owner Stephen Lanzalotta of Slab in Portland who paints; chef/owner Kei Suzuki of Ramen Suzukiya scripts Japanese calligraphy; and chef Daniel Bushman of Otherside Deli is a skilled woodworker.
