Abstract
Description of a Paleoindian archeological dig in Dresden overlooking Merrymeeting Bay. Arthur Spiess, senior archaeologist for the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, said the most intriguing find was a point fragment, suggesting the site is closer to 11,000 years old, rather than the previously reported 9,000 years old. Spiess estimates that 40 families gathered at the site, known as Choice View Farm. The relics suggest the site was used for several years by families who started their own community. In 1999, Friends of Merrymeeting Bay and Maine Future Fund raised money to protect the land.
