Abstract

Profiles of five Maine directors. Wayne Beach, 46, whose directorial debut, "Slow Burn," stars Ray Liotta and is currently in post-production. Beach, who collaborated with the late David Hodgin on the script for "Murder at 1600," has sole writing credits for another Wesley Snipes thriller, "The Art of War." The work of Portland auteur Matt Power, 42, will be highlighted this year with the release of his full-length dark farce "Throg," and the political satire short film "The Nine." Christian Matzke's new short film, "White Rhino," should be finished before the year is over. Matzke, a 28-year-old bookseller, has two previous short films. Portland writer/director Chris Barry, 36, has an action-comedy, "Squirrel Crime Fighter," in pre-production, and plans to submit a full-length feature entitled "Chatterbox the Shoveler" to screenplay contests. Social worker Jennifer Lunden, 36, completed her first short, "Sadie's Last Day," about the final hours in the life of her Welsh corgi.
