Abstract
“Vanishing Maine” piece on Castillo del Mar, a Spanish-style villa in Old Orchard Beach designed by John Calvin Stevens for Robert Parks Hazzard in the 1920s. Charles Lindbergh apparently stayed at the house after his transatlantic flight in 1927. The house was sold at a foreclosure auction. With sidebar piece by Christopher Riccardo about the many transatlantic flight attempts made from the beach in front of the house.
