Abstract

Profiles of the "10 Most Intriguing People in Maine," including interviews with Kate Aldrich, 31, a Damariscotta native recently signed with the New York City Opera, Peaks Islanders Scott Reischmann, 36, and Michelle Thresher, 35, who own the charter operation, Portland Schooner Co.; and William Ryan, 61, CEO of Portland-based TD Banknorth. Others include Randy Spencer, 56, a long-time Maine Guide recently caught in a "Kafkaesque" fish-and-game sting operation; Tim Swenson, 40, the rags-to-riches developer of the Grand Victoria condominiums in Old Orchard Beach; scientist and fisherman Ted Ames, 66, a MacArthur Foundation "genius grant" winner for his historical research on cod migration; Victoria Hershey, 57, a columnist, social and civil rights activist, and director of development for Portland West; Ann Wood-Kelly, 87, a World War II Spitfire pilot who was trained at the then all-male Bowdoin College in Brunswick; and Jane Morgan, 84, formerly of Kennebunkport, a singer and actress who sang the popular song, "Fascination."
