Abstract

The city of Portland has acquired the property at 209-215 Congress Street, which was gutted in a December 3, 1992, fire that killed four people, destroyed five businesses and left two dozen people homeless. The city acquired the property because the owners, Congress Street Partnership, owed more than $40,000 in taxes. The city council will consider whether to sell the building, demolish the building and sell the lot, or demolish the building and create a park. Details.
